IFRD Welcomes Ceasefire in Gaza and Calls for Justice and Accountability
The International Federation for Rights and Development (IFRD) welcomes the recent ceasefire in Gaza as a critical step toward ending the immediate violence and alleviating the suffering of millions of civilians. We acknowledge the immense relief this development brings to those who have endured unimaginable hardship over the past weeks.
However, the end of hostilities does not mark the end of the systematic oppression, displacement, and genocide that have devastated the Palestinian people. The cessation of bombing alone cannot address the deeper structural issues of occupation, apartheid, and dehumanization that perpetuate suffering in Gaza and across Palestine.
IFRD calls for an immediate and thorough investigation into the war crimes and human rights violations committed during this conflict. The targeting of civilians, the destruction of homes, hospitals, and schools, and the denial of basic human needs constitute clear breaches of international law. Justice must be served for all victims—those who have lost their lives, their families, and the survivors who continue to endure the psychological and physical scars of war.
Accountability is non-negotiable. We urge the international community, including the United Nations and the International Criminal Court, to uphold their responsibilities in ensuring that those responsible for these atrocities are held to account. A genuine commitment to justice and human rights is essential to break the cycle of violence and build a future grounded in peace and dignity for all.
The people of Gaza deserve more than a fragile ceasefire; they deserve freedom, self-determination, and the right to live in safety and dignity. The international community must work tirelessly to address the root causes of this conflict and support a just and lasting resolution.
